Starting at Wooler Common car park and picnic area, we take St. Cuthbert’s Way across the heather moorlands which lead to Cheviot in the south-west. We later turn off this path to climb up Yeavering Bell with its Iron Age hill fort and breathtaking views - an ideal lunch spot! Leaving here, we backtrack on ourselves and follow a track to the top of White Law. Then it's downhill again to the base of Harehope Hill. Our route ends with a walk up to Humbleton Hill, from where we follow a hill fort trail and return to the car park at Wooler Common.
The terrain on this route is mostly good with clear paths and well marked trails. As this is the Cheviots, there are some ascents and descents but they are moderate.
Afterwards, we plan to meet for a post-walk chat and refreshments in the bar/bistro at the new Ad Gefrin visitor attraction and distillery in Wooler.
Advance booking is required for this walk. To reserve your place, please e-mail Miriam M through the contact box above.
Booking opens on Monday, 19th June.
