Overview

The walk comprises the end of stage 9 and most of stage 10 of the Capital Ring. The walk is limited to 20 people and booking by email before Sunday 1 June is essential. There are dop out points at South Kenton Station, Preston Road Station and Wembley Park Station. However anyone who does not feel able to complete the full walk is advised to join the walk at South Kenton Station rather than dropping out. Not only does this avoid the climb to Harrow on the Hill but the best parts of the walk are after the drop out points. South Kenton is on the Lioness line. There are trains from Euston Station on the quarter hour and the journey time is 25 minutes.  It is essential that you inform me if you intend to join at South Kenton and we will then wait for the arrival of the 12 noon train arriving 12.25pm before proceeding.

We meet at 10.30 at Sudbury Hill Underground Station on the Piccadilly Line. We then walk up to Harrow on the Hill, mainly on the London Road before reaching the dizzying altitude of 105 meters. We descend the Hill through the grounds of the Public School and Northwick Park before reaching South Kenton Station. Much of the next section is on public footpaths before we reach the attractive Fryent Country Park and Barn Hill Open Space where (if the walkover is anything to go by) I am guaranteed to loose my way. There is another road section before we reach the Welsh Harp (otherwise known as Brent reservoir). After following the path by the reservoir we then walk up to Hendon Central from where there are regular Thameslink trains to St Pancras International.

We will have a short break in Northwick Park whilst waiting for the 12.25 from Euston. Please bring a packed lunch. Weather permitting we will lunch on Barn Hill Open Space with a grand view of Wembley Stadium. There are toilets at Sudbury Hill Station. According to the guide book there are also toilets at Preston Road Station and "near" Brent Reservoir. There is one stile on the walk: the only one on the Capital Ring.
