Parking near Gayle bridge, we follow a footpath down to Hawes cattle market, followed by a field path to Burtersett. We then turn south along a good path to join the Cam High Road to Wether Fell. There is a cairn at the summit of Wether Fell but instead of heading for the cairn we follow a good path clockwise around the summit. At the north-east corner we start the descent, briefly touching the route we ascended by, but then forking left to follow field paths back to Gayle.
I previously attempted to lead this walk in February 2020. Unfortunately the night before there was a heavy snowfall and we soon encountered deep snow drifts which made it unsafe to continue! This is an opportunity to re-attempt the walk in the summer.
Refreshments afterwards will be in the ever-popular Wensleydale Creamery tea room
