An interesting 8.5 mile figure of 8 walk ,taking in historic mines, 2 Tors, standing stones, a giant quarry, Lake view and stunning views over Bodmin Moor.
There is a narrow stream crossing , on stepping stones if water running low. Maybe some slightly boggy sections. Folks can abandon ship half way at cross over point if they only want to do half the distance.
We will start at The Cheesewring CP ( free charge). ( nearest to Upton Cross, not to be confused with The Hurlers CP) ascending to Caradon Hill television mast 1200 but fairly gentle climb. We then take a track to South Caradon copper mine for coffee( biggest copper mine in UK in its heyday ). descending down to cross stream , view the old Tin and copper Minings, to Hurlers CP. From here we pass the Hurlers stones to Tregarrick Tor for lunch, stunning view of Siblyback Lake. We make our way to the quarry and on to the Cheesewring Tor and back along the ancient railway sleepers to Cheesewring ( minions) CP.
Toilets ( donations only) at the Hurlers CP.
