Starting at the car park above Ellers Wood, north of Hawnby, heading south we drop down and cross the River Rye. After a fairly stiff climb to Blueberry Wood we follow the track through the wood, before a second climb to Arden Great Moor. We follow the track along the eastern edge of the moor for around 2.5 miles climbing steadily but slowly, hopefully the heather will be in bloom. At the high point we drop down off the moor to Lower Locker Farm, and across fields back to the edge of Ellers Wood and re-cross the river, up to the road, past the waterfall and a short walk along the road back to the car park.
There is plenty of space for parking and the grassy surface is generally firm - please be careful if the weather has been wet as some places in the parking area may be muddy. Conditions underfoot are generally good, although the path off the moor is a little tricky in places. A few stiles.
Please note earlier start time.
