Overview

Circular walk approx 7 miles. Assistance dogs only.

The route we take follows the Cleveland Way giving good views of Helmsley and the Castle.  We pass through fields where sheep and horses may be grazing before entering woodland on an undulating path with some short steep climbs.  Emerging from the wooded path we walk on a minor road for 1.5 miles to Rievaulx Abbey.  Passing the Abbey we will take the concessionary footpath to Rievaulx Terrace where it is planned to take a break.  Note this is again a short but steep path.  From here we will join the busy B1257 (care is needed when walking on the verge) before taking concessionary field paths towards Griff Farm.  We then rejoin the Cleveland Way and make our way back to Helmsley.
