Starting at Calverley Lane Park (children's play area - LS18 4FH) we head up towards Bar Lane Bridleway, shortly reaching the A65 Rawden Road where there is a controlled crossing. We then go through a ginnel to pass through West End estate and uphill into the woods on the outskirts of Horsforth. Good views from the top then we descend into Horsforth itself and eventually crossing Low Lane into Haigh Woods. This takes us down to the Leeds Ring Road (controlled crossing). We're then on another incline up to Butcher Hill and across into Hawksworth Woods through to Abbey Road (no Beatles here!) crossing here into Newlay woods over Newlay Bridge and down to the River Aire eventually joining the canal towpath for around two miles to the end of this circular walk. A choice of two cafe's and one pub for those who wish to partake.
Hopefully weather permitting we will have a mid-stop for those who wish to have a snack/packed lunch.
Adequate parking on Calverley Lane (LS18 4FH)
Mixture of countryside and urban walking. Some short inclines. May be muddy.
