Ascent: 200 metres

Transport to Walk Start: 10:51 train from Manchester Piccadilly station (final destination Buxton). Residents of Stockport can board the 10:48 from Stockport to Piccadilly and alight at Levenshulme.

Meet Point:  Near the ticket barriers at Piccadilly Station. Alternatively, meet the group on the train or at Levenshulme Station. Driving to Walk Start not recommended as you will need to catch two buses to return there from Romiley.

Suggested Ticket: GM Rail Ranger £8.20. At time of writing , a limited number of advance singles were available for £2.10 for the morning journey and £2.80 for the afternoon journey.

Walk Start: Levenshulme Railway Station at 11:00.

Waypoints: Former Levenshulme Station South, Crayfield Road, Fallowfield Loop Line, Highfield Country Park, St Elizabeth’s Church, Houldsworth Square, Reddish Vale Visitor Centre, Trans Pennine Trail (Dead Line Path), Brinnington Tunnel, Warth Meadow, Fred Perry Way, Pear Mill, Goyt Hall, Otterspool Road, Chadkirk Spring.

Return Services: From Romiley: x:16/17/18 & x:47/48 until 20:48.

Extra: No toilets at walk start. Toilets en route at Reddish Vale and Pear Mill.

This route follows quiet roads, grassed playing fields and gravelled paths. There may be some muddy patches after rain.

The route is mainly flat, with a descent to Reddish Vale, a short ascent to the old railway line, another descent to Pear Mill and a final very short but quite steep ascent to Romiley.
