A lovely historic walk, slightly longer for a Wednesday but fairly easy. We start at Lifton Village along tracks, green lanes and country lanes. We reach the 14th century church at Stowford which was later restored in 1874 by Sir George Scott, architect of St Pancras station. The interior woodwork is said to be some of the finest in England and don't forget to see the 1770 sundial over the church door. We walk back to Lifton passing the Gothic Mansion of Hayne rebuilt in 1810. There is some walking on the old A30 road and care needs to be taken.
We will stop for coffee and lunch and there is the option to visit the Strawberry fields Garden Centre cafe for tea and cake afterwards.
