Starting at Bourne End Farm near Epping Green, the walk initially heads towards Little Berkhamsted before continuing to the hilltop village of Essendon, where fine views can be appreciated. Following paths across pasture and farmland, the walk then skirts the estate of Camfield Place, a country house built by the grandfather of Beatrix Potter over 150 years ago and later the home of Dame Barbara Cartland for 70 years. Shortly afterwards the walk joins the Hertfordshire Way to Newgate Street and back to the farm where mulled wine and mince pies can be enjoyed at the end of the walk.
This is a joint group walk between East Herts Ramblers and Royston Ramblers.
The end times of our walks are approximate. Our walks are relaxed affairs where weather, ground conditions, people we meet along the way, views, nature and wildlife can all affect the time a walk might take. So please bear this in mind when joining us on one of our walks.
