Overview

This is a lovely scenic walk through gentle rolling countryside, park and heathland and along some wooded footpaths.
We leave Codicote along Dark Lane with its 470 year old hedge, crossing the river Mimram before joining the Hertfordshire Way to Ayot St Lawrence. We can pause at the striking Palladian style church before continuing through Priors Wood then dropping down into Kimpton.
The route takes us past Kimpton church and up the other side of the valley to Hoo Park. We cross the ornamental bridge and gradually descend back down to the Mimram which we follow for a short but very pretty section on our way back to Codicote.
