From Castle Bolton the route follows a bridleway up a fairly long steady climb to reach the ridge above Rowan Tree Scar, continuing along a good track to the moor over-looking Carperby. A short sharp climb to the escarpment above Ox Close, and finally returning along the bridleway to the start. A walk through a variety of landscape, heather clad moor camouflaging the scars of its lead mining past, up and down grassy slopes, whilst taking in the splendid views of Wensleydale.
All on good tracks, no stiles, with a total assent of 1,178ft.
