Although there is no standard pathway around Ogston Reservoir, it occupies an attractive nugget of countryside between Alfreton and Matlock, where there are some good footpaths, tracks and country lanes to walk on. We park at the northern end of the reservoir in a Free Car Park. Unfortunately, the toilet block has been closed down, but there are plenty of places en-route for a comfort break. We shall have a mid-morning break where there should be boulders for at least some people to sit on, then the lunch break will be at Brackenfield Church, where there are lots of low, dry stone walls for seating. We then continue through Ogston Water Treatment Centre and back alongside the reservoir to the Car Park.
