Overview

The walk starts at the car park near to Newstead railway station.It continues along a good path past the winding wheel for the former Newstead Colliery into Linby from which the walk continues to Papplewick Church where we can have coffee.After which we pass Papplewick Hall and head to Newstead Abbey where there are toilets and a cafe as well as plenty of seating.We have lunch there and then head back to the car park after passing the upper lake and waterfall.

There appears to be no charge for the large car park next to the railway station. There is a bus, the Threes run by Trent Barton from Victoria Centre that runs once an hour on Sundays and the Mansfield train every two hours.The bus takes about 35 minutes and the train about 22 minutes.
