Starting from the Rutland Arms (aka The Dirty Duck), we will follow the Grantham canal to Harlaxton. From there, we progress to Denton via the Denton reservoir. After a short section of road walking, we will pick up the route of the dismantled railway built to serve the Denton ironstone quarry and follow the trackbed back to where we rejoin the Grantham Canal and from there return to the start of our walk.
The walk is on mainly surfaced paths, although the trackbed of the dismantled railway is eroded in places. The path to Denton Reservoir is across fields, but it is well-marked. As previously mentioned, there will be some road walking, so the usual protocols apply. There are also a couple of straightforward stiles.
There are no facilities on the walk, but the Rutland Arms PH will be open at the end of the walk.
