Starting at Bere Alston recreation field, the walk will take farm tracks, paths and fields crossing and re-crossing the railway line. We pass through Lockeridge Wood with stupendous Blackthorn blossom around us and parallel the railway line before crossing it and taking the road to the railway station where we stop for coffee/ refreshments. We take the track along the old line to Tavistock and then cut down to Tuckermarsh Quay before ascending on quiet roads to our starting point.
Subject to some variation on the walk leaders' whim as this has been put on at short notice. Some steep ascents and one descent where poles are recommended
Couple of small streams to cross, generally drying up compared to a few weeks earlier but muddy ina few places. Also has some sharp ascents to get the heart pumping.
Dogs on leads near livestock please.
