Set out on a journey along the Thames, following in the footsteps of the legendary diarist Samuel Pepys. Starting from Tower Hill, we’ll stroll through areas steeped in maritime history, including Rotherhithe (formerly Redriff) and Deptford, before finishing in the royal surroundings of Greenwich. Expect a blend of 1660s London stories and the vibrant rhythm of the modern city — a walk that bridges centuries with every step.
Train: Tower Hill (Zone 1) is served by Circle and District Lines. Return from Greenwich DLR or Greenwich Nat Rail ((Zone 2/3).
Lunch: Lunch break at the Surrey Docks farm, picnic or at café (serves hot drinks, cake and pastries).
Toilet: The Angel Pub and Surrey Docks Farm.
Meet outside Tower Hill underground station, using the Way Out exit signposted for Fenchurch Street — it’s directly opposite the tea and coffee kiosk next to Trinity Square.
Greenwich Station is a short distance away. Please note that Cutty Sark DLR Station is closed until spring 2026.
