This is a peaceful, undulating country route with woods and fields and a church decorated with the earliest known English wall painting.
There are some steep up and down sections.

Train: Reigate train departs London Victoria 10:08, Clapham Junction 10:15, Coulsdon South 10:36. Coulsdon South is within the Freedom pass zone.
Lunch: picnic stop at benches in cricket oval at Netherne on the Hill (where there is a small village shop with limited availability for food). Refreshments also available at the Fox pub about 30 minutes from the end of the walk.
Toilet: facilities at Coulsdon South station then nothing. A possible stop for toilets at the Fox pub.
