Renowned for bluebell woods, this area, although close to Croydon, is in the Green belt. A chalky area there are ups and downs, fields and valleys. We pass via Riddlesdown, the South London Downs Nature Reserve and the reserve of Ledgers Wood.
Train: Victoria 9.50, Clapham Junction 9.57, East Croydon 10.10. East Grinstead train. Upper Warlingham is covered by Oyster/Freedom Pass but zone 6 extension would be needed for the return from Woldingham which is not in the zone.
Lunch: picnic and a pub at Chelsham Common for drinks and loos.
Toilet: Limited ones may be available at Upper Warlingham station and then at the lunch stop.
