Renowned for bluebell woods, this area, although close to Croydon, is in the Green belt. A chalky area there are ups and downs, fields and valleys. We start with a climb up to Riddlesdown then head east to Hamsey Green.A stretch of road walking is rewarded by a bluebell bath as we walk through Kings Wood. Partly on the London Loop and Vanguard Way, we reach the small 11th Century church at Farleigh the picnic spot.We subsequently stop at the Bull on Chelsham Common for a drink and loo stop .Skirting the Woldingham Golf Club we take the downward path to Woldingham Station.
Train: Victoria 9.50, Clapham Junction 9.57, East Croydon 10.10. East Grinstead train. Upper Warlingham is covered by Oyster/Freedom Pass but zone 6 extension would be needed for the return from Woldingham which is not in the zone.
Lunch: picnic at Farleigh Church and a subsequent pub stop at Chelsham Common for drinks and loos.
Toilet: Limited ones may be available at Upper Warlingham station and then at the pub stop.
