We are the Cleveland Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Circular walk approx 5 miles.
From Swainby we will walk approx S on the road to Shepherd Hill and take the Cleveland Way SE through the forestry to Heathwaite and then approx N to the bottom of Jacob's Ladder. We don't climb up here but take a narrow path through the trees to join Bank Lane, which we follow NNW to High Farm. We then turn SW to Whorlton House and follow Whorlton Lane back to the start, passing the old church and ruined castle.
Wet and muddy in places after recent rain. One fallen tree to negotiate but no climbing required!
There will be a ten minute break. Please feel free to bring a drink/snack to enjoy.

Sunset is at 1540 and the walk is expected to finish around this time. Please bring a torch/head torch if you have one. The last part of the walk will be on Whorlton Lane which is a tarmac farm access road, so traffic is possible but it isn't usually busy. Please be aware of traffic especially if the light is poor.
