Join us for a peaceful evening walk under the stars beside two of the beautiful Pentland reservoirs — Threpmuir and Harlaw.
We’ll set off from Threpmuir car park, following the path beside the reservoir and across the dam before winding through tranquil woodland to reach Black Springs. From there, we’ll take a gentle incline through the trees to Harlaw Reservoir, enjoying the stillness of the evening as we circle its waters. Our route then joins the track beside Threpmuir once more to return to our starting point.
Along the way, we’ll take in views of Edinburgh’s twinkling lights in the distance, and if we’re lucky, we might spot owls or geese that frequent the area. With clear skies, it’s also a wonderful chance to do a bit of stargazing and soak up the calm of the Pentlands at night.
A lovely evening of fresh air, gentle walking & night-sky magic - come along & enjoy the beauty of the hills after dark!
The route is along countryside & woodland paths some of which may have puddles or be muddy after rain. There is one short stony path up an incline so I would recommend wearing walking boots. Being in the Pentlands the paths are unlit & so please bring a headtorch with you & a walking pole may be useful on the uphill section.
It is essential to book a place on this walk at least 24 hours before the walk if you wish to attend as numbers will be limited. Please state if you wish to car share at the time of booking, otherwise it will be assumed you are meeting us at the start point.
