We are the Penrith Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
We will drive to Pooley Bridge to catch the 9.20 service bus to Patterdale, where we will begin the Western side of the Ullswater Way, starting in Patterdale and walking along good, well-marked paths beside Ullswater, past Glenridding to Aira Force where we will continue over Gowbarrow Fell and Great Meldrum, avoiding the closed section of Swinburn's Park, and walk to Bennethead on minor roads then cross several fields before descending to Pooley Bridge.
This is a linear walk which will be at a moderate pace. If you are meeting us in Patterdale you will need to arrange transport back from Pooley Bridge.
If the weather is poor we will follow the terrace path from Aira Force rather than climb over Gowbarrow Fell.
