Our walk starts at the Poppy and Pint pub in Lady Bay. We go a short distance along the road and then join the old Grantham Canal, which we follow to near the Morrisons supermarket in Gamston. We cross over to the opposite bank of the canal, and follow the path. After crossing a busy road, we head to Adbolton along a road, then enter The Hook Nature Reserve. We follow the bank of the River Trent for a short distance. There is then another short road section before we rejoin the canal and return to the start point.
This walk is part of my Flat 5 Series (about 5 miles and mainly flat). There are no stiles and the paths are well made. There will be a drink stop, so please bring any drinks or snacks with you
There is no need to book the walk, just turn up on the day.
After the walk, there is an optional meal at the Poppy & Pint pub. If you wish to join us for this meal, please contact the leader before June 11th. If you are dining, please arrive in plenty of time to order your meal before the walk starts.
There is limited car parking at the Poppy and Pint and parking on nearby roads is sometimes tricky. Please car share wherever possible or use public transport.
Public transport options: Stagecoach number 90 from Newark and Nottingham stops on Radcliffe Road; NCT number 11 from Nottingham and Lady Bay stops on Trent Boulevard; Central Avenue, West Bridgford is a short walk away with a variety of bus options. Please check bus times before travelling.
