We are the West London Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
A walk through pleasant Hertfordshire countryside quite close to London. In the morning we will follow the Hertfordshire Way westwards via Bayford, Little Berkhamsted and Essendon for lunch at the village of Wildhill. The Woodman pub serves good value simple snacks, and we will stop for lunch here. The afternoon walk is mainly across fields to Welham Green station
Great Northern train departs Finsbury Park (probably Platform 8) at 9.52am arriving Bayford at 10.24am.
Return trains from Welham Green every half hour. As we are returning on a different line, you will probably need two single tickets. If you have a Senior Railcard and Freedom Pass, you will need the following tickets:
1. Railcard single from Crews Hill to Bayford
2. Railcard single from Welham Green to Hadley Wood
The walk may be muddy if there has been a lot of rain.
