Overview

Our walk begins heading northwards on a footpath alongside Pikewell Burn and into Struthers' Wood. Continuing to the southern edge of Hamsterley Mill, we pick up the Derwent Way. We turn through Hamsterley to Blackhall Mill then head for Broad Oak Farm. Crossing fields and the River Derwent, we come to the site of Vindomora Roman Fort and Ebchester. From here field paths take us east and up to Medomsley with a promise of fine views. Our final stretch is via field paths to Low Bradley and on through Bradley Woods before dropping back down to Dipton.
