A lovely loop through some of Kent’s most charming countryside.
Begin in the village of Ditton, at the recreation ground. Head west toward Barming, using quiet footpaths passing through gentle suburban edges before reaching more rural paths.
From Barming, head through Oaken Wood. This ancient woodland is a highlight—dense with oak, hazel, and hornbeam, and rich in wildlife. The paths here can be muddy in wet weather, but the canopy and birdsong make it magical.
Emerging from the woods we enter East Malling. The village is quaint, with traditional Kentish architecture and a peaceful vibe. Then head toward the East Malling Research Station, a historic hub for horticultural science. The public paths offer views of orchards and experimental plots before re-entering the village of Ditton and return to the recreational ground via Kiln Barn Road.
