A 7 miles hilly walk starting from The star pub in East Keswick . Buses 99 from Leeds to Wetherby stop in the Main Street . Parking is in the side roads opposite the pub.
We walk through ginnels around the back of East Keswick until coming down Lumby lane , where we will walk up the steep hill to the top of the village , going through a field( often with horses )and a few stiles.
At the top of the main street we need to cross the busy Harewood road , and go down a track , over the Woodhall bridge. Shortly after we turn right through a meadow and a narrow path - emerging in the grounds of Woodhall. Now a wedding / conference venue and spa (formerly a Nunnery) .
The tracks after this can be v muddy if it’s rained , we follow a path to the top of Sicklinghall lane , where we turn left through a gate /and continue until we reach another small lane and turn left again , then follow a track back over the wooden bridge and up the steep track back to the Harewood road , and then walk along the path to the centre of the village , where refreshments can be had .
The pace is moderately fast , it’s undulating countryside, and is primarily on tracks snd ginnels with a few stiles. Well behaved dogs welcome though need to be on leads through the fields with horses and sheep/ cattle . Horses snd rare pigs are often encountered on this walk through the picturesque village snd lower Wharfedale countryside.
