A Moderate paced walk along mostly level terrain. Heading west from Harpenden through Rothamsted Park, then along the Nickey Line (disused railway) into Redbourn. There we pick up the River Ver Trail, stopping at the Redbournbury Water Mill (which should be open today) and then onwards into St. Albans via Verulaneum Park.
Train: 09:49 London St Pancras Thameslink, 10:00 West Hampstead Thameslink, arrive. 10:18 Harpenden (Bedford train). Buy return to Harpenden.
Lunch: picnic at Redbournbury Water Mill. (We may have time to look inside the mill). Plenty of pubs and cafes at the end of the walk in St. Albans
Toilets: On the train and at Harpenden station (please use toilets on the train so as not to delay the start of the walk!). Also at Redbourn and at St. Albans Station.
