A linear walk though a mix of urban, riverside and country exploring the market towns of Hertford and Ware and their rivers (old and new) towards Stanstead Abbotts (St Margaret's station). Moderate pace along mostly good level paths with one short ascent - descent. Expect to find the occasional puddle (if recent rain) and mud, which may be slippery. Stop at Ware for lunch (picnic or cafes) and toilets (also an optional 5 mile drop out point). For those who want a pre-Christmas drink there's a convenient pub near the finish point.
Meet in Hertford East station's ticket office hall. No toilets at station, should be toilets on train and some about 1mile into walk.
