Overview

Please note route below has been updated, distance increased to 4.5 miles and start time brought back to 1pm to avoid flooded area of moor.

Walking East beside B3357 towards Rundlestone to pick up the track to pass Yellowmeade Farm and on to Foggintor Quarries. Then follow the track bed of the old Plymouth and Dartmoor Railway NW towards King’s Tor, then open moor and via Hucken Tor and track to Hillside (wet and muddy) to the Merrivale Stone Row for around 4:00pm and hopefully meet up those on the long walk.

Sunset is around 4.21pm and Merrivale is thought to be a Bronze Age astronomical calendar, if it is sunny then this can be demonstrated. Bring Torches. If you have dowsing rods, then also bring them along!

Booking essential as will be weather dependent walk.
