This is an 8 mile walk via the twin villages of Thundridge and Wadesmill, where we will pause for
refreshments at a choice of The Feathers or Ermine’s Café, followed by a wander up the Bourne and
onto Lowgate Lane, where there are expansive views of the surrounding countryside. This was a
secondary Roman road in the 2nd and 3nd centuries AD, showing the importance of linking
settlements. Here we enter the hamlet of Sacombe Green with its five or more listed buildings and
onto Sacombe church, the site of the film Enigma. From here we make our way back through
Sacombe Park, Bengeo Temple Farm and Tonwell to Chapmore End with further refreshments at The
Woodman, whose facilities are exclusively for patrons. Come prepared with a picnic, as I am unable
to guarantee food at these breaks.
The end times of our walks are approximate. Our walks are relaxed affairs where weather, ground conditions, people we meet along the way, views, nature and wildlife can all affect the time a walk might take. So please bear this in mind when joining us on one of our walks.
