A level walk from Richmond Station to Hampton, via Thames Path and the London LOOP across Bushy Park, with views of the Thames and hopefully (!) the lovely deer in Bushy Park. Bushy Park played an important role in both World Wars, and even the Cold War!
Meet at Richmond Station (District line, SW Rail and 65 bus) 10.30am
We'll walk along the Thames Path to Ham House- then inland towards Ham Common and back to the Thames Path. There will be at coffee/loo stop at YMCA Hawker . Suggest walkers bring a snack as lunch will be latish. The walk then follows the Thames Path to Kingston Bridge, and into Bushy Park at Church Grove Gate, then via the ponds to the Pheasantry Cafe . Food and loos available. Bring a picnic in case cafe is very busy. After lunch we'll walk through the lovely Waterhouse Plantation, visit the beautifully restored Water Gardens, and see the remains of Cold War research. A short distance to Hampton High Street & regular buses to Richmond and Teddington.
