A tough and delightful walk around the Mendips, with loads of interest and archaeology as well as great views over the Somerset levels. We start with an ascent of Ebbor Gorge, with a bit of scrambling as we admire the flora and fauna, and then pick up the West Mendip Way to Priddy and down to Draycott. We visit Rodney Stoke and Westbury Sub Mendip before climbing back up to Pelting Drove before a final descent steeply to the cars.
Please note the early start, and try to share lifts as far as is practical, as we are a bit out of usual walking range. A walking pole is definitely a good idea as the gorge is quite steep, and slippery if it has been raining.
Unfortunately there are no places to find coffee on our route, so bring your own, and plenty of food for at least two stops.
Dog friendly as long as the dog is under control at all times please.
