Overview

A circular walk setting off from Stourhead car park with a climb mostly through woods to Alfred’s tower then walking back towards the house taking in views of Six Wells Valley and the obelisk.  A short stretch on quiet roads but mostly on tracks. A couple of stiles. A steady uphill climb with one short steep section. Bring a snack for a mid-walk break at Alfred’s Tower. Those who wish can visit the café at Stourhead at the end of the walk. (Entry ticket not needed)

Meet in front of Stourhead Farm Shop. Please park in the main National Trust car park. The farm shop is to the left as you enter the car park. Note: you will not need a ticket to Stourhead but if you are not an NT member parking will cost £4.50.
