Start from the old station car park just off Linton road -( parking fees of £2.15 a day are in place ). There are public facilities in the town centre ( the shambles’s). About 5 minutes walk away.
Given the bank holiday and Wetherby races it may be busy with traffic . Limited bus service operating 99, nu 7 and nu 98 .
The walk starts taking you through various housing estates in Wetherby down grassy ginnels until we reach the disused railway. We turn left then right shortly after towards Kirk Deighton . We go along a muddy path that does get slippery in wet weather. After passing the public house in Kirk Deighton, turn left and follow the quiet meandering road to a track that gives fine views of Spofforth on a nice day . We cross a wooden footbridge and go over the disused railways way straight through Stockeld Grange to the Harrogate-road. Here we turn left and walk quarter of a mile on the grass verge towards Wetherby, then cross the road carefully, to follow on track on the right through Stockeld Lodge farm . Invariably they have dogs 🐕 keeping guard . You will need to keep your dog on a lead through the farm area and by the roads . It leads to Sicklinghall road where we do a dogleg- left then right down Northgate lane , a quiet road but where cars tend to speed- making our way towards Linton village, and then back towards by Wetherby via the golf course and the river ,where refreshments can hopefully be had in the town centre.
