Stuart Gran Thank you Note to all Ramblers
When I moved to Cumbria in 2016 I joined the Penrith Group of National Ramblers.
This was most opportune as I met my current partner Jean during the subsequent organised walks. It has also proved time and time again what wonderful friends we both have.
Although I was disappointed not to be able to attend personally, I now know that last Wednesday’s Tea & Cake fundraiser for Myeloma UK, in celebration of my 70th birthday, was a great success due to the teamwork and effort involved.
Jean and I cannot thank you enough for your support and we are looking forward to seeing you all soon.

2) BOOK NOW FOR THE BIRTHDAYS CELEBRATION SUPPER ON FRIDAY 16 SEPTEMBER
There are many special birthdays among our members this year, not least one of 90, some 80s, many 75s and numerous others. Some people are celebrating this year because they could not do so during Covid. If you think you are celebrating a special birthday and want to contribute a photo of yourself as a baby or toddler, please let Jean Bradshaw (who will be the only one who knows everyone's identity) have it by the end of August and everyone can have fun trying to decide who is who using a list of everyone who has contributed a photo.
The date and the venue have had to be changed since it was advertised initially but it will now go ahead on
Friday 16 September at the Great Salkeld Village Hall at 7pm for 7.30pm.
The food will be provided by Janet Davies from the Langwathby Station Café at a cost of £22 per person, including the hire of the hall.
As well as the photo competition and the excellent food, there will be a chance to enjoy the company of fellow Ramblers in a social setting.
Water will be available at the tables but if you want wine or soft drinks, bring your own. After the meal Coffee and Tea can be served on request at an additional cost.
Please book a.s.a.p and definitely by the end of August by emailing jeanmbradshaw@aol.com or phoning 07885316036 or 01768865240. No deposit is required but full payment of £22 will be needed in CASH on the night.
Cancellations will be accepted up to 9 Sept but any cancellations after that will be charged the full cost.
