This walk is mainly on tracks with some fields as we walk from the Visitor Centre at Shipley Country Park and go south to Mapperley Farm, then onto Mapperley village before walking into the park from the eastern end of it. There were two wet muddy pools at field gates when recced in early March, but generally it is not particularly muddy. There is one stile only.
This is a very pleasant park that was once the site of a colliery. There are woodlands, a reservoir and many footpaths. The walk would be suitable for dogs but they must be on a lead. There may be cattle in a field, so please take this into account if you are thinking of coming with a dog. The pace will be moderate.
If you would like to join this walk please contact the Leader using the email link. Numbers are limited to 24 walkers.
Please bring a drink for our break, and a packed lunch.
At the Visitor Centre there are toilets but unfortunately the café has closed. There is a café on the route of the walk where there is one toilet. The café can get very busy so it is best to bring our own drinks.
