Overview

This is a walk of great views and wonderful water contrasts. It’s not long before we leave country fields behind to enjoy the rugged beauty of the South West Coast path with Widemouth Bay to the left and Bude to the right. We follow a good path, enjoying a beautiful coastal coffee stop. There is a short stretch of pavement walking where the coast and the path have been eroded before we reach the town and its Castle Heritage Centre. Here we learn about the Bude connection to NT Killerton’s Acland family. This is our lunch stop (with benches, toilets and a cafe) with our return taking us along a tranquil canal tow path where a heron or kingfisher may be spotted.
