Overview

WALK DESCRIPTION: Morning: 5 mile walk circular route with a total ascent of 500 feet. Given the wet winter be prepared for mud in places. We will do a bit of gentle climbing in the Lickey Hills up to the visitor centre where there should be a mobile coffee outlet. After that we’ll visit the reservoirs and meander on tracks and lanes back to the pub. Afternoon: 2.5-mile circular route The afternoon will be a short circuit of the golf course via the pond and club house.

JOINING INSTRUCTIONS: Meet at the Hare and Hounds to be ready to start the walk at 10.20am. Travel: By car. The Old Hare and Hounds, 426 Lickey Road, Rednal, B45 8UU. The pub has a car park off the north bound carriage way on Lickey Road, B4120. From A38 Longbridge Island. Continue south on B4120 to the Cofton roundabout, take third exit and the pub will be ¼ mile, 500m from the roundabout. Please ensure you register your car at the bar before the walk. By Bus. Catch the X20 bus, from Corporation Street at 9.05 am arriving at Leach Green Lane 9.58 am. This bus goes via, New Street Station, Queen Elizabeth Hospital Medical school and University station, and Northfield shopping centre. Please check the timetable for these stops. Alight opposite Leach Green Lane. Walk south 200m then cross the Lickey Road and the pub will be there. Alternatively catch bus 47 or 45 buses, which are frequent and terminate at the Longbridge Island. From there allow at least 30 minutes to walk for 1 mile along Lickey Road to the Old Hare and Hounds. The walk leader will meet walkers at the pub.
