A varied walk to a minor fell in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with fantastic views in every direction, then descending to a circuit of the Geltsdale valley head. The walk is on good paths, tracks and a minor road. It goes over moorland on which there are ground-nesting birds, such as curlews, skylarks, lapwings and grouse, and free ranging cattle. As a result all dogs must be on a lead, particularly as the cattle are suckler cows with young calves.
There are some very boggy sections, bring gaiters if you have them. It is mainly on easy gradients, but with one short steepish climb.
The walk will be done at a moderate to leisurely pace. The date has been changed for personal reasons.
