Overview

Continue the Thames Path walk from one of the Areas of Outstanding National Beauty (ANOB), Goring-on-Thames, skirt along the bottom of Chiltern National Landscape, then walk up to the woodland and down to Whitchurch-on-Thames.  Picnic lunch after 4.5 miles walk at St Mary Virgin Church ( if it is not busy, otherwise walk across the bridge to Pangbourne Meadows, public toilets are available) and drinks at the nearby pub.

After lunch, we skirt along the bottom of the North Wessex Downs National Landscape and pass the Purley-on-Thames village, mainly on the pavement, then back to Riverside walk from Tilehurst ( drop out point after 8 miles walk) , along the Thames Side Promenade straight to Reading.

Either take GWR train from Reading( 10:24) OR from Paddington (9:38) and arriving Goring & Streatley at 10:36.  Meet outside Platform 1.  Toilets on Platform 4.

Buy return tickets to Goring & Streatley.
