Starting from Ash Lane just north of Wells city centre. An uphill climb (start 75m, top 260m) into the Mendips and Priddy – we meet our old favourite, The Monarch’s Way, en route (opportunities to dress up as Charles II. There will be prizes!). You can peruse the former lead mining country as we climb. Priddy was once famous for its Sheep Fair though this is now a thing of the past – but we will have lunch next to a very fetching hut full of sheep hurdles. One for the selfies. From the top we should get good views over the Somerset Levels – if the weather is clear Glastonbury Tor can be seen. We return via Ebbor Gorge, Wookey Hole and back to Ash Lane. Wimps can return to their cars but most will want to trot down into the city for coffee and cake. The Bishop’s Palace café gets good recommendations. Bring fuel for a lunch and coffee stop, order to be decided but I give a cast iron guarantee that lunch will not be at 3.00! Cake heaven at the end.
Please note: the Finish Time is an estimate and may vary.
