A leisurely new year walk through Richmond Park hoping to see many deer. From Richmond Station we will follow the river upstream then a short climb up to King Henry's Mound and on to Pembroke Lodge for a short stop (toilets and possible coffee) or if wet weather stop for lunch. Then through the park to Penn Ponds and onwards to the coffee shop (no toilets)and possible short stop. From there the Beverley Brook (toilets) to Wimbledon Park and to the village
We will mainly be walking on made paths but some areas can be muddy and slippery. Walking poles are a good idea.
Train: Richmond is served by District Line services via Earls Court and Mainline rail. From 27 December to 4 January major engineering work is taking place between Waterloo and Clapham Junction and those lines are closed. Victoria station will have services to Clapham Junction. Change there on Saturday 3 January where the mainline service operates from Clapham Junction 1013 stopping at Putney arriving Richmond 1022. Other services via Wimbledon take 51 minutes from Clapham Junction only on 3 January.
Lunch: Picnic or numerous lunch/pub options at Pembroke Lodge and Wimbledon Park Village.
Toilet: Richmond Station, Pembroke Lodge, Penn Ponds, Beverley Brook and Wimbledon.
Meet at information point in main foyer of Richmond Station. Please note this is a newly opened office situated on the left hand side of the main foyer at street level before exiting the station.
