Overview

From Abbey Wood Station, it's a short walk to the ruins of Lesnes Abbey, where there are toilets.  After enjoying the viewpoint, we follow the Green Chain walk, uphill through the woods to the tumulus, then down to a stretch of road walking to Franks Place.  The woodland paths are wide, and may be muddy.  Continue along quiet roads to Erith Riverside, where we stop for a picnic lunch (pub opposite for drinks and toilets).  We return along the Thames Path to Crossness, then rejoin the Green Chain Walk through Southmere Park, turning off to head for the station.
