Overview

From Benfleet Station around Canvey Island mostly along the sea wall. There’s an option to leave the walk after lunch and catch the bus back to Benfleet station (about 9 miles). This is an interesting and varied walk with views of the Thames estuary and Hadleigh Castle, salt marshes and sandy beaches, marinas, industrial heritage, literary connections (Charles Dickens), music history (Dr Feelgood) and Canvey Wick Nature Reserve. There is a little walking along busy roads and some paths are rough underfoot.

Late morning coffee break. Picnic lunch with potential drink in pub.
