The walk starts at Green Lanes by climbing the Harringay ladder (a pedestrian passageway through a series of parallel streets). We then cross the New River and railway to see Hornsey church tower, all that remains of the old parish church. A brief section of the New River before the climb to Alexandra Palace and its wonderful view from the front terrace. Leaving via the Grove on a balcony path that is the Parkland walk the views continue. Into peaceful Highgate wood and then a road climb up to Highgate village, passing the elegant houses on The Grove. We descend and enter Hampstead Heath by the back door and make for Kenwood. I plan to stop for lunch here, please bring a picnic with cafe for drinks only and toilets nearby. Continuing across the Heath and following some of the quieter streets of Hampstead we descend to our finish at Finchley Road station. (Other options nearby Overground and buses).
Could be muddy in places esp. on the Heath.
