Overview

A surprising gem in the outskirts of London. It's a peaceful, undulating, country route, woods and fields. A church decorated with the earliest known English wall painting.  There are some steep up and down sections.

Train: London Victoria 1008 arrives 1036. Via Clapham Junction (1015), East Croydon (1026).  Horsham train. Exit station from platform 2.  Freedom pass covers the route, half hourly trains for return.

Lunch: picnic lunch, likely early stop at benches in cricket oval at Netherene on the Hill (where there is a small local village shop with limited availability for food).

Toilet:  Coulsdon South Station.
