After the postponement of the launch day on 14th September due to poor weather, the event has been rescheduled for Saturday 11 October. As before, an opening ceremony will be held at 10:30 in Borough Park, Totnes, followed by a mass walk departing at 11:00 (staggered departure dependent on numbers). The walk is 7.5 miles from Totnes to Buckfastleigh. Walkers will be accompanied by South Hams Ramblers leaders.
There are several choices regarding the return journey to Totnes:
- Countrybus service no. 88 departs from Buckfastleigh Garage (Stop B) at 34 minutes past each hour from 13:34 to 18:34. The bus stop is opposite the turning to South Devon Railway on the B3380
- Book a place on the spectacular South Devon Railway heritage train. The trip from Buckfastleigh back to Totnes is £16.50; train times: 14:15 and 15:45. The fare can also be paid on the day at the booking office at Buckfastleigh. There is a discount for groups of 10 or more (contact SDR in advance to book for a group) - southdevonrailway.co.uk
- Arrange with friends to place a second vehicle at Buckfastleigh. You can park free in the South Devon Railway car park.
- Call a taxi and share the cost with other walkers
