The walk starts in the quaint village of Ashbury. We start the day with a steep ascent up Ashbury Hill onto the Ridgeway path. Soon passing Wayland Smithy Long Barrow, Uffington Castle fort with views of the of White Horse, the Manger and Dragon Hill.
The walk continues along the ridge with expansive views and large skies. There are views of the Devils Punchbowl at Crowhole Bottom. There is a descent to Wantage via the villages of Letcombe Basset and Letcombe Regis.
The walk will be reasonably paced to fit in with local bus route timetables, at 3 mph per hour. This walk is part of the Ridgeway series.

Swindon Bus Station 10:45 Bus no. 47 to Lambourne arriving at Ashbury Rose and Crown 11:15
Return Wantage, Market Place Bus no. X35 or X36 to Didcot Pathway Railway Station
Didcot Parkway Railway Station, regular trains to London Paddington Station
Buy a return ticket from London Paddington Railway Station to Swindon.
Alternatively if you have a Freedom Pass, you can travel to Reading on the Elizabeth Line and then buy a single to Swindon and to return but a single from Didcot Parkway to Reading and take the Elizabeth Line.
