The walk starts at Canary Wharf Jubilee Line Station (a few minutes walk from the Canary Wharf DLR and Elizabeth Line stations, if you prefer them to the Jubilee Line) and we meet just outside the main exit, in Jubilee Plaza (I’ll stand next to the large 3D “Canary Wharf” sign, next to Eden Dock). There are toilets in the Jubilee Place shopping mall next to the station (at same level as ticket barriers), which are usually open. Please use them before joining the walk.
We will walk through Millwall Docks to Mudchute Farm and Millwall Park. Then on to the Thames Path, facing Greenwich. From there we’ll head north and cross the River Lea. Then we’ll follow the Thames to the Thames Barrier and leave the river to walk to City Airport. We’ll see many interesting sights, along the way and I’ll share some information about some of them.
Lunch (30 minutes) will be taken around midday, somewhere along the Thames Path, so please bring a packed lunch.
There are numerous potential dropout points along the way, with regular bus services close to the path, and train/tube stations not too far from the path. All within the Oyster/Freedom Pass zone.
This walk is not suitable for dogs.
**Please note that while I think the pace of my walks fits the Ramblers' description of "Moderate" some walkers have said that they find my pace (2 to 2.5 miles per hour) a bit faster than they prefer. But please note that this is the pace of my walks, so if you're looking for a slower walk, this one might not be suitable for you**
